We are looking for a Senior R&D Flight Test Engineer to join our team. The goal of a Senior R&D Flight Test Engineer at Wisk is to ensure that R&D projects reach their goals and set us up for future success. You will be part of the Advanced Research and Development team that focuses on the following key areas: flight test of autonomy technologies, new propulsion systems, advanced concepts.This is a hybrid work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Mountain View and/or Hollister offices 3 days per week with flexibility for the remainder of the days. We are seeking a dedicated Senior R&D Flight Test Engineer to join our Advanced R&D team.
You will be instrumental in assessing new technologies for our autonomous, all-electric aircraft designed for urban air mobility.We are looking for team members who can drive the appropriate amount of process and rigor to learn quickly, and capture the results to build the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft that performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility environment.
What you will do:
- Lead ground and flight test activities.
- Gather and develop test requirements from engineering disciplines.
- Collaborate with engineers to create test configurations, procedures, conditions, and maneuvers.
- Develop comprehensive test plans and schedules with project engineers and program managers.
- Coordinate test schedules with maintenance, engineering, and flight operations teams.
- Define flight test safety hazards and implement mitigation strategies to ensure acceptable risk levels.
- Define and monitor test configurations.
- Conduct aircraft tests and provide daily progress reports, as well as test reports upon completion.
- Update flight logs and test documentation.
- Write detailed test reports to document results
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (aerospace or mechanical preferred) with at least 5 years of flight test experience.
- Experience flight testing aerospace systems.
- Experience writing flight test plans, documenting safety hazard assessments, and creating test cards
Desired:
- You are familiar with NX, Teamcenter, Python, Matlab, JIRA, G Suite, ARINC/ Ethernet/Serial communication protocol, Data acquisition systems such as Siemens Testlab and National Instruments
