POSITION SUMMARY:
The CAD Designer is a key player in creating innovative, on-brand CAD artwork that aligns with seasonal color trends and strategic business goals. This role requires strong independent decision-making skills, allowing the designer to contribute creatively while managing their own projects. The CAD Designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate design concepts and take ownership of CAD tracking and reporting processes.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently create production-ready prints and patterns, including pattern repeats and alternate colorways, showcasing a high level of creativity and strategic insight.
- Maintain and optimize the CAD Tracking Chart, delivering comprehensive, timely reports to cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and accountability.
- Engage with design and merchandising teams to effectively present and communicate design concepts through CAD artwork, leveraging strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration.
- Accurately assign CAD Numbers and Names, ensuring thorough documentation of all final designs to facilitate seamless project management.
- Take the initiative to develop new CADs for Quarterly Print Presentations, bringing fresh ideas that resonate with the brand vision and market trends.
- Oversee CAD development budgets, making informed, independent decisions to optimize resources and align with overall business strategies.
- Utilize Adobe Illustrator for high-quality garment sketches and print fills, ensuring exceptional output that meets design specifications.
- Spearhead the implementation of new CAD technologies and techniques, streamlining workflows and enhancing overall efficiency within the design process.
- Provide training and guidance to Assistant and Associate CAD Designers on NedGraphics, ensuring mastery of tools and maintenance of the CAD Tracker.
- Independently manage CAD supplies, proactively assessing needs and placing orders to support ongoing and upcoming projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Textile Design, or related field.
- Minimum 4-6 years of industry experience.
- Proficiency in CAD and graphic-oriented software applications, including Adobe CS and NedGraphics.
- Strong understanding of brand aesthetics and business dynamics.
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Exceptional multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Fast-paced and deadline-focused work ethic.
- Understanding of copyright design principles.
- Positive attitude and collaborative team player.
