Purpose of Role:
Inspection of mechanical and electronic items delivered to the Company from our multi-national vendor base. Liaison with vendors and internal process owners, including quality assessment, internal process audit and quality investigations and reporting.
Essential Functions/Duties:
Inspection and Transacting goods into the Company in a timely manner using the Company’s computerised business system.Read and interpret engineering drawings, delivery documents and supplier’s material certification and cross check them to Company and international standards, scanning, filing and adding documentation to database.Assist with the selection, specification and ensure effective calibration of the Company’s measurement equipment.Provide quality investigation and test reports for customer orders, returns, complaints or supplier issues and full dimensional reports for production and first off sample components. Retrieve and generate appropriate levels of documentation and certification for customer orders.Assist/conduct outside inspection witness tests, liaising with Notified bodies/certification agencies and Customer inspectors.Respond to change productively and seek to continuously improve quality department and Goods-inwards inspection/outside inspection areas with a strong 5S environment and efficient and effective processes.Perform any other duties as may be required and reasonably requested.Keep abreast of changes to Company Policies and Procedures, AMOT Terms and Conditions, ensuring the same are adhered to and met.Follow all Company Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirements/Equivalent:
- GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics, Science
- City and Guilds, National Certificate in Engineering an advantage
- Engineering apprenticeship in light mechanical/electrical engineering
Experience:
Minimum 2 years quality inspection/engineering experience and the use of general metrology equipment found in a light engineering environment (includes height gauges, verniers, etc.).
Knowledge & Skills
- Competent in the use of mechanical inspection equipment and Faro arm. Casting/machining experience an advantage.
- Demonstrated strong and effective communication skills at all levels; good written, oral and inter-personal.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work accurately, both in a team and independently to tight deadlines.
- Methodical and clean work ethic.
- High attention to detail and compliance with process and procedures.
- MS Office experience and report writing desirable.
- Experience of problem solving, 5Y/8D report creation.
- Knowledge of the valve, casting and machining industry is an advantage.
- ISO9001 Internal Audit training is an advantage.
