SUMMARY
The Underwriting Senior Manager is primarily responsible for leading and providing training, support, and guidance to the RealPage Payments Underwriting team. The Underwriting Senior Manager is tasked with ensuring that the Underwriting team complies with the goals, objectives, and standards set forth in company risk management policies. This position is responsible for daily management of underwriting processes and workflows, direct handling of escalated merchant/merchant risk profiles, and collaboration with compliance personnel in the establishment of risk monitoring and reporting.
This individual will also work with the RealPage Legal and Compliance on design and implementation of governance policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory and banking requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and coach the teams responsible for the underwriting of all files presented for approval and onboarding, act as point of contact for escalation and oversight
- Shadow and coach the Underwriters, act as the primary Underwriter for high-risk/escalated merchant accounts
- Contribute to the development and/or revisions of appropriate policies, and procedures, to ensure regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with risk management and compliance team on additions and changes in underwriting strategies
- Evaluate current underwriting strategies and make recommendations for change both internally and with Payment Facilitator policies and procedures
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Manages all underwriting and KYC functions associated with payment facilitator operations
- Leads change management process for underwriting practices associated with new product/service offerings
- Drafts policy and procedural documentation for final approval
- Supports the RealPage Payments CCO and BSA/AML Officer during state regulatory exams and bank audits
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Minimum five (5) years of merchant and/or payment experience in the financial, ISO, Payfac or agent environment
- Must have the ability to read and analyze business financial statements
- Advanced knowledge of Card Brand rules and regulations
- Ability to understand and make recommendations for changes to Underwriting in a dynamic fast paced environment
- Familiarity with the property management industry is a plus
- Hands on experience with underwriting and OFAC screening tools
- Strong interpersonal skills and interactions with a wide range of levels across the company
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
