Purpose of Role


To act as a TQM expert to drive business improvement and provide coaching and training to employees throughout the business.  Key deliverables include developing systems and employees to improve quality process capability, eliminate waste and increase customer satisfaction, which result in improved Business financial performance.To manage Quality and Inspection functions.  Direct and co-ordinate activities, formulate, implement policies and programmes to achieve the strategic aims of the Company. 

Responsibilities


Strategy and Planning


  • Conduct and facilitate appropriate measurement, analysis and evaluation methods to identify opportunities for improvement and document process improvements, such as benchmarking, process maps, FMEA and quality audits.

  • Implementation


  • Drive quality through the complete product life cycle, identifying and executing strategies to decrease the cost of quality while improving reliability and delivery times, (such as FMEA, PFMEA, FPY, Process capability studies).
  • Ensure root cause investigation of customer complaints with timely feedback to Customer via RMA process to minimize customer disruption and dissatisfaction. Close out follow up actions in a timely fashion.
  • Manage the Quality Performance and Development process targeting Quality reliability. Customer complaint PPM / MRB Scrap / RMA.
  • Manage Control plans and quality plans associated with relevant regulatory bodies such as LRQA, ATEX, PED, BV, ABS, etc. Manage witnesses’ visits for product from Notified bodies and Customers.
  • Manage Goods inward inspection processes to ensure right first-time components and product are issued to production processes.
  • Produce progress reports of overall Quality activities including accomplishments and participation to ensure predicted improvements are measured, fully implemented and results driven.
  • Deliver employee training at all levels; operators to senior manager teams, by theory and by example through training workshops and root cause interventions ensuring employee involvement.
  • Encourage a culture of problem solving and getting to root cause through experimentation in the workplace by means of PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) and rapid implementation through pareto analysis.
  • Support regular internal and external audit programmes to ensure adherence to procedures and policies such as ISO9001, ISO14001.
  • Work with the Engineering and other departments as necessary to evaluate the impact of new designs on manufacturing processes. Determine the most efficient implementation of process changes to meet new production requirements.

  • Coaching and Training


  • Develop Functional leaders, helping them embrace the Quality first mindset, address non-value-added activity and communicate with Data.
  • Contribute to the development and update of Lean methods and tools.

  • Performance Management


  • Manage the performance, motivation and engagement of the Quality, Manufacturing Engineering and Health and Safety functions through the effective use of Success Factors or other such system as may be implemented from time to time.
  • Ensure each step of Success Factors is completed in a timely manner and that the process is completed competently, ensuring that all employees are allocated appropriate objectives with detailed measurables and that these are objectively assessed, providing suitable evidence as necessary. Provide coaching, training and development to maximise performance and personal growth.

  • General


  • Keep abreast of changes to Company Policies and Procedures, Terms and Conditions, ensuring that the same are adhered to and met.
  • Respond to change positively and productively and handle other tasks and projects as may be required.
  • Follow all Company Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

  • Knowledge & Technical Skills


    • Manager of Managers’ experience with demonstrated Leadership skills to achieve results. Ability to:

    • Excellent interaction and communication skills, with the ability to address all levels of the business to ‘get things done’.
    • Sigma Black Green certified preferred.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Industrial manufacturing processes.
    • Strong PC, knowledge of ERP and Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly MS Excel.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects.
    • Continuous Improvement experience is beneficial.
    • Understanding of Hazardous Areas (ATEX), Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) beneficial.
    • Knowledge of Nuclear Industry and Safety Applications preferred.
