Reporting to the VP of Operations with a dotted line to the Global Controller, this role combines operational accounting, financial oversight, and business administration with responsibilities in HR, sales logistics, and cross-functional coordination. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely financial statements, maintain robust internal controls, and support the company’s agribusiness operations, including commercialization efforts and global compliance. This position requires a strategic, detail-oriented individual with a proven track record in finance, accounting, and multi-disciplinary business operations.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial Management & Accounting:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including statutory and US GAAP accounting, to support international operations, transactional currency, and month-end closing per the parent company’s calendar.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, footnotes, and disclosures for all balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Manage accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), invoice drafting, and audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls and global finance reporting standards.
- Assess complex business transactions requiring technical expertise and judgment, including revenue recognition for product launches.
- Support Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance (for private or public company status), tax processes, and statutory audits, maintaining relationships with external auditors and advisors.
- Implement and improve financial systems (e.g., D365 ERP, AP automation, inventory modules) to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Business Administration & HR:
- Facilitate onboarding/offboarding processes, draft employment offers, and manage local employee benefits in alignment with global HR practices.
- Coordinate office logistics, fleet administration, and supply management to ensure operational efficiency.
- Act as the Brazil point of contact (POC) for global HR and finance teams, fostering cross-functional alignment.
Sales & Logistics Coordination:
- Provide administrative support for sales, including order processing, customer inquiries, and documentation.
- Oversee logistics operations, coordinating product deliveries and managing inventory levels with suppliers.
- Utilize CRM systems to track sales, customer interactions, and reporting; assist in budget preparation, credit analysis, and strategy development.
- Maintain strong communication with clients and suppliers to support sales and operational goals.
Strategic & Operational Leadership:
- Develop and implement policies, process narratives, and best practices to strengthen the financial and operational infrastructure.
- Support the company’s growth and preparedness for commercialization, ensuring scalability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration, fostering open communication and mutual understanding across teams.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- None currently, though leadership over cross-functional tasks and coordination with global teams is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, and business operations, with at least 3 years in roles involving sales support, logistics, HR, or administration (agribusiness or life sciences preferred).
- CPA certification with Big 4 or large regional firm experience is highly desirable.
- Strong technical accounting background (US GAAP) and familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (Section 404) compliance.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., D365, SAP, or Oracle) and CRM tools; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Fluency in Portuguese; proficiency in English (required) and Spanish (highly desirable).
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global matrix environment, with excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical capabilities, a passion for results, and the ability to handle confidential information ethically.
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Background in the life sciences or agribusiness industry, ideally in both large and small international company settings.
- Leadership experience in HR, IT, or sales logistics within a global context.
- Detailed knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for public companies.
