What you’ll do…
The VP of Asset Management will be responsible for the operational and financial performance of all generators or associated technology within the Enchanted Rock portfolio. You will manage a Team of individuals who will support you in the areas of Registration and Regulatory requirements, Forward Market transactions and Economic Program participation, Energy and Gas Markets, Contract and Performance Analytics, as well as Account Management. You will partner with adjacent organizations such as Operations & Maintenance (including Engineering, Emissions, and Control Center Operations), Structuring, Finance, and Accounting, among others.
Your success will only be possible through collaboration with others and solving problems or creating solutions as a group. You will also act as the liaison to Asset Owners and provide monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting in the areas of business as mentioned above, surrounding, once again, operational and financial performance. You will also work to resolve portfolio constraints with outside companies whom which we partner with.
You’ll make an impact by:
· Managing performance and asset optimization of ERock’s distributed generation portfolio.· Producing comprehensive monthly, quarterly and ad hoc reports for asset owners or board meetings, delivering key insights on asset availability, monetization capture, and cost avoidance. · Supporting P&L tracking, cash collections, distributions, audits, and regulatory requirements. · Enhancing the understanding of business division operations, fostering greater engagement in initiatives to increase revenue, reduce costs, and improve profitability and efficiency.· Ensuring contract and market participation compliance while managing forward market financial transactions to secure stable revenue amid market volatility. · Tracking asset run hours by event type, enabling precise revenue and cost accounting. · Identifying MW capacity constraints among managed assets and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to minimize or eliminate negative financial and operational impacts.· Executing opportunistic hedges to capitalize on ad hoc events, boosting cash flow.· Quantifying non-disruption savings during grid outages from "behind-the-meter" assets, and advising asset owners on strike price adjustments.· Leading a Team, cultivating a culture of problem-solving and adaptability.· Managing and ensuring accuracy of supply and load schedules submitted to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).· Directing and managing compliance with ERock’s risk management policies and limits, ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides,
Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT)
Wholesale Code of Conduct, North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)/Texas Reliability Entity (TRE), and all other regulatory requirements.
· Directing, managing, and establishing energy risk management goals and strategies; identifying appropriate instruments for use in managing fuel and power supply risks; and establishing goals and strategies for energy and capacity.· Developing and maintaining the long-term resource plan with associated stakeholders.· Coordinating and identifying resource requirements, staffing levels, and the organizational structures for the business unit based upon the evolving ERCOT wholesale market.· Influencing and recommending ERock’s real-time operations and support activities in the ERCOT Nodal market.· Representing ERock’s interests at meetings, commissions, councils, and industry working groups.· Supporting the strategic business planning process.· Preparing special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.· Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.· Contributing to Team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.· Performing other duties assigned by Leadership as needed.Requirements
You’ll sweep us off our feet if you:
· Have experience in wholesale market functions within ERCOT, and other ISO’s, especially in relation to trading power, experience with forward markets, registration, and the monetization of assets through Programs and Ancillary Services.· Have been responsible for managing ERCOT resources in SCED.· Experience in integrated resource planning with all supply and load functions in the market.· Experience with fuel supply contracts.· A strong background in finance, risk management, and contract negotiations especially in relation to distributed generation and/or “behind-the-meter” assets.· Experience with Market Systems for trading, scheduling, modeling, and risk management.· Experience interacting with a utility executive team.· Are extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Especially proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Projects.· Have excellent managerial and problem-solving skills, and the ability to command respect.· Have excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and project management skills related to prioritizing and executing timely deliverables within timeline, scope, and budget.· Can understand business needs to drive buy-in among company leaders to enable transformation and advance strategic priorities while building rapport and fostering a collaborative working environment.· Have excellent attention to detail.· Have strong experience in working as a business partner in delivering better decision support and enabling strategic initiatives which help to improve organization performance.· Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.· Have contract experience.
What you’ll need:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years’ experience.· Experience working for a retail energy provider, or, energy-service-oriented business or utility company.· In depth knowledge of
PUCT
Regulations governing the Texas wholesale electric market, as well as knowledge and experience of the ERCOT Wholesale Electric Market and its protocols.· In depth knowledge of electric utility operations including power production, power delivery, and related fuel and power market operations.· Knowledge of Financial Risk Management Practices and Markets.· Proven supervisory experience, encompassing managerial techniques and principles.· Demonstrated experience in reporting concepts, budgeting, purchasing, and preferred business practices.· Knowledge of project management and internal control concepts and practices.· Skill in handling conflict and uncertain situations.· Skill in using software applications to perform data analysis and problem solving.· Skill in negotiating energy-related supply and transportation agreements.· Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.· Ability to analyze and resolve irregular events.· You possess a strong understanding of pricing strategies and concepts.· You have strong analytical skills, are comfortable dealing with numerical data, and have strong attention to detail.· Physical requirements and working conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry 20 pounds, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
