Position Summary
The Warehouse Operations Manager will oversee all shift operating hours, facilities, and people in our Valencia, CA warehouse. Reporting to the Site Leader, the Warehouse Operations Manager will:
- Implements change and/or develops new processes as required to provide ability to better direct product to multiple locations and geographies
- Continuously measure and evaluate the departmental goals and all work processes, available daily labor and daily production goals and hourly progress towards these goals
- Improve quality and eliminate errors, reduce cost per unit; conducting weekly GEMBA walks; utilize six sigma practices to enhance the operation
- Conduct operation overview and facilitate meetings in the absence of the Site Leader, not limited to site safety walks, city and state inspections; and handle all facility escalations.
- Oversee hourly work force of 20-40 hub specialists and up to three supervisors, with this number expected to grow significantly in the coming months
- Oversee the 3PL (Roadie) operation on site
- Facilitate continued rapid growth by creating and executing strategic plans to accommodate increased unit volume and make optimal use of space available
- Continually improve and build upon existing processes by identifying areas of improvement, designing solutions with measurable impacts in mind, and executing such fixes
- Maintain a safe work environment by actively building and reinforcing safety standards at the site
- Recruit, hire, and train a world-class workforce of specialists and supervisors
- Ensure efficient day-to-day operations of the warehouse to meet and exceed target under-the-roof KPI’s
- Collaborate with the senior operations team to develop and streamline warehouse procedures
- Build and maintain an amazing work culture by instilling a team-oriented sense of camaraderie amongst the specialist population and devising reward systems that incentivize great work and collaboration. Our goal is to cement Happy Returns as a top workplace within the CA area.
- You will be the face of the site, so prepared to host partners, customers, and vendors as necessary
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and departments including Automation, Transportation, Engineering, Quality, Product teams to ensure the smooth operation of your facility.
- Measure performance through metrics, providing feedback, and holding Managers accountable for their performance and the performance of their departments
- As needed partner with Managers to establish corrective plans to ensure that department meets objectives
Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
- B.S. or B.A. degree
- 6+ years’ experience managing in a fast-moving warehouse environment
- 4+ years’ experience managing supervisory employees
- Experience in an ultrafast-scaling organization and/or excitement to be a part of one – we are disrupting a multi-billion-dollar industry and are expecting tremendous growth in the near-term
- Proven ability to effectively motivate, develop, and manage 30+ employees. Our culture is a critical part of our success, and you need to help drive it.
- Fine-tuned attention to detail – our retailer partners depend on us to return their products to them in perfect condition
- Excitement for working in a start-up environment with high level of ambiguity and change
- Strong project management and continuous improvement skills

- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays on occasion based on business need
Work Environment
- Warehouse setting with exposure to varying temperatures and weather
- Lift up to 60 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- May require extended hours or weekend shifts.

- Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts
- Work in an environment where the noise level varies and can be loud
