POSITION OVERVIEW
- This role involves overseeing cultivation and production processes, supervising a team of Cultivation Technicians and Harvesters, ensuring operational alignment, maintaining supply levels, exercising authority over operational processes, and ensuring safety and efficiency in production. Additionally, the Cultivation Manager Assistant is responsible for compliance with legal requirements, continuous improvement initiatives, equipment maintenance, regulatory inspections, safety protocols, plant monitoring, ordering supplies, cleaning tasks, IPM (Integrated Pest Management) scheduling, and implementing company policies and procedures.

- Monday – Friday, 7:00AM – 3:30PM including flexibility for nights and weekends as needed.
COMPENSATION
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees cultivation and production processes at the Cultivation facility, ensures the highest level of plant care and manages a team of Cultivation Technicians and Harvesters
- Ensures operational alignment between the harvest and cultivation functions and maintains adequate and appropriate supply levels to support the facility production schedule
- Leads the Cultivation Team and has oversight of production, trim and harvest, and general facility operations
- Exercises authority and discretion over operational processes and ensures the cultivation and harvest teams safely and efficiently meet production demands for quality and quantity
- Oversees the leadership and development process of the cultivation team by building a staff culture around positivity, quality initiatives, innovation, and continuous improvement, and creating an environment as an overall great place to work
- Manages cultivation efforts including those focused on plant quality, shrink reduction and order fulfillment, and is responsible for greenhouse environments, irrigation practices, Intergraded Pest Management and plant growth regulators
- Collaborates with other growers and company leadership in development of systems and processes to improve safe, sustainable and on-time execution of production plans
- Compiles and maintains records of all cultivation activities and complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions
- Leads continuous improvement initiatives to maximize productivity levels through efficiencies in human capital, reduction of material waste, and elimination of downtime; continues to develop and improve cultivation program and best practices
- Responds to and addresses equipment failures and unexpected occurrences in a timely manner to minimize downtime / product loss
- Ensure the site is in full compliance with all local and state laws while assisting with regulatory inspections
- Work cross-functionally through the operation and maintain a hands-on “lead by example” approach
- Ensure that all safety protocols and procedures are followed by all employees in the unit
- Ensure all room/plant conditions are accurately monitored, recorded, and reported according to set protocols
- Enforce adherence to fertilization, irrigation, plant work and feed schedules
- Identify common/rare plant, facility and/or equipment issues while reporting and fixing them in a timely manner
- Ensure proper plant labeling, tagging, logging, and traceability both physically and in the state’s STS software
- Assist in coordination for interdepartmental plant or material transfers
- Partner with Procurement to order supplies and maintain cultivation supplies and equipment stocked
- Direct and schedule all cleaning and IPM tasks according to protocol
- Execute and maintain IPM schedule
- Actively seek ways to improve systems, yields and quality
- Implement and manage all Company policies and procedures
- Oversee the hiring, training, coaching, and development of employees
- Oversee department schedules and ensure they are maintained based on the operational needs of the unit
- Delegate, manage, and empower the team to achieve an optimal performance
- Assist in all areas to ensure the team, department, and company division maintain success
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- 21+ and currently residing in the USA
- High School Diploma or GED
- Dispensing Organization Agent Identification Card (obtained upon hire)
- Experience working in large-scale commercial, production, nursery or cultivation environment with strong knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, 5+ years
- Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, or similar agricultural science (preferred)
- Cultivation facility management experience, 4+ years (preferred)
- Team building & management experience, 4+ years (preferred)
- SOP development & documentation experience (preferred)
- Proficient in cannabis policy & law (preferred)
- Advanced cannabis knowledge including plant cultivation, diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies
- Excellent communication, multi-tasking, time-management, planning, & organizational skills
- Detail-oriented, critical thinker, problem solver, & assessor
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Fast-paced, warehouse-like, and rapid-changing environment
- Manufacturing facility with industrially lit rooms and heavy machinery that may produce loud sounds
- Indoor greenhouse environments and grow rooms with elevated temperatures and humidity
- Plant pollen and extraction fumes may be present on surfaces and in the air
- Protective suits may be required (provided on site)
- Kneeling, squatting, lifting, bending, walking, pivoting, and long-term standing (all expected activities)
- Lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds repeatedly
- *NOTE: The facility contains confined spaces that may only be accessible by ascending/descending stairwells while traveling throughout the building.
