Site Reliability Engineer

Doran Jones is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join a high-performing DevOps team that supports critical infrastructure for a global financial technology company. This team leads securities finance applications for a client base comprising investment banks, agent lenders, and hedge funds.
Due to our rapidly growing customer base, we are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our client’s DevOps team. This role is a high-impact opportunity to work on critical production systems used by global financial institutions. You’ll contribute to the reliability, scalability, and performance of our cloud-based infrastructure, collaborating with international teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.This is a remote role working EST business hours, with participation in an on-call rotation, including some weekends. 

Responsibilities


  • Monitor production systems to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability
  • Respond to and resolve incidents promptly
  • Automate routine operational tasks, deployments, and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and work with engineering teams to optimize application and infrastructure performance.
  • Participate in capacity planning and system scaling strategies.
  • Ensure systems are secure by design and work closely with internal teams to address vulnerabilities and enforce best practices.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to improve system architecture and deployment pipelines.
  • Document processes, runbooks, and best practices for knowledge sharing and operational continuity.

Required Experience


  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux system administration, preferably RHEL or Rocky Linux.
  • Experience working in production environments with a focus on reliability and incident response.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
  • In-depth experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and services, including, but not limited to, EC2, ECS, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, Athena, and Systems Manager.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical teams and clients.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks in a fast-paced Agile environment

Preferred Experience


  • AWS SysOps Associate certification.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and Git-based workflows.
  • Experience using Terraform (ability to read and interpret code).
  • Experience using Ansible for configuration management.
  • Basic scripting skills in Python or other scripting languages.
