About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join as an integral part of the accounting team, responsible for providing accurate and timely financial reporting to the broader Finance Org and Management team. This individual will report to the Director of Accounting and will play a significant part in scaling our General Ledger and Financial Reporting functions. This individual will collaborate with teams throughout the organization to ensure the timely and accurate completion of key reporting activities.
This individual will also assist with certain month-end closing activities.This is a role positioned for growth. As the Senior Accountant familiarizes themselves with our technology stack and business, we expect them to identify areas for process improvement within their areas of responsibility. The ideal candidate will be professionally curious, have a strong accounting background, understand US GAAP, and possess excellent communication and writing skills.
What You'll Do
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions; perform monthly close duties, including general journal entries in areas such as payroll, prepaids, accrued liabilities, and cash, reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, and post-close financial reporting processes.
- Assist in the day-to-day management of Tropic’s AP, Credit Card, Expense Reimbursement, and Collections processes.
- Assist in the evaluation and adoption of accounting standard updates, including documenting conclusions around complex and technical accounting areas applicable to Tropic’s business.
- Identify opportunities to automate current manual processes and improve the utilization of technology and systems to create efficiencies within the accounting department.
- Perform ad hoc financial statement analysis and communicate findings to management.
- Assist with the preparation and completion of Tropic’s initial financial statement audit and quarterly reporting for the board and investors.
What You’ve Done
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA qualification (or CPA track) is strongly preferred.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- A mix of industry (preferably at a high-growth tech company) and public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems (QuickBooks and/or NetSuite), including the understanding of integrations leveraged to manage cash, payments, and invoicing.
- Advanced Excel skills are strongly preferred.
- Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects while meeting goals and deadlines. Should be able to communicate priorities and timelines.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Team player. Attention to detail. Organized and thorough. The desire for continuous improvement.
- Self-motivated to learn new approaches and tools. We want someone who can problem-solve creatively and meet expanding business needs as circumstances require.
- A strong knowledge of US GAAP is a must, and experience in technical accounting is a plus.
Compensation
Specific to pay transparency laws, the salary range starts at
$100,000
and may include commission, incentive pay, incentive stock options, and benefits. The final job level and compensation will be determined by factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, years of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, geographic location, and other business considerations.
