Salary Range: $69,514 - $104,271

Summary of Responsibilities:


The Financial Analyst is responsible for accurate preparation and review of various financial statements and is able to work with minimal supervision. Investigative, diagnostic, analytical, and reasoning skills are required as well as the ability to work independently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Prepare unitized financial statements, collating associated subsidiary reports and verifying all for accuracy and reasonableness. (monthly, quarterly, and other reports as requested) 
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of accounting software and reporting functions.
  • Prepare analyses of financial results including trends, impact of operational activities, and other analytical tools.
  • Prepare and post year end entries (GASB, consolidation, etc.)
  • Prepare monthly reports with analysis for health care.
  • Prepare and coordinate the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for publication, including providing financial information to SERS’ actuary and reviewing resulting schedules for inclusion in ACFR. 
  • Prepare the GASB 68 and 75 financial schedules. 
  • Facilitate the annual audit. Coordinate and monitor internal contributors and the external auditor.  
  • Review all new GASB pronouncements and prepare an analysis (white paper) that includes identifying any changes that may impact the organization.
  • Prepare account reconciliations, review account reconciliations prepared by others, financial schedules and other documents as required.
  • Subject matter expert with account reconciliation tool.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Educations and Skills/Qualifications:


•           Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field;  •           Five to seven years related experience and/or training with demonstrated;  •           Strong attention to detail skills;•           Ability to take initiative on tasks, consistently solving problems as they arise •           Consistently provides quality work, delivered on-time•           Ability to collect, consolidate, and correctly use relevant information to complete work•           Ability to set and prioritize deadlines based on organizational needs•           Excellent oral and written skills•           Oracle NetSuite, BlackLine, Workiva (Wdesk), Adaptive Analytics experience is a plus.•           Strong Microsoft Excel skills required•           CPA preferred.•           Equivalent combination of education, skills and experience considered for the position.

Working Conditions:


This role operates in a professional office environment and is subject to prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines and may need to be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The hours for the role are from 8:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M.   Finance staff members are eligible to work remotely 2 days per week, after 30 days of employment.
