Vail Systems is seeking a Technical Project Manager to manage the entire lifecycle of projects for innovative enterprise voice communication solutions on both web and mobile channels. As a Technical Project Manager, you will be expected to coordinate between technical engineering and business teams to ensure project timelines are adhered to, stakeholder needs are addressed, and deadlines are met. You would identify necessary resources and delegate tasks to appropriate personnel. This role is team-oriented, as you will collaborate with highly technical and cross-functional teams in a dynamic, client-centered environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background of project management frameworks and agile methodologies to coordinate research, strategically develop project plans, translate unique customer requirements into tasks, and facilitate software development and operations to quickly deliver solutions to the marketplace.
The applicant should have knowledge of customer service, ticketing processes & workflows, Interactive Voice Response (IVR), and telephony/VoIP applications. Additionally, the candidate will be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and have strong leadership and communication abilities.#BI-Hybrid
What You'll Do
- Partner closely with Engineering, Product, Operations, Support, and other key leaders to establish project scope, timeline, technical direction, and success metrics for projects. Projects will include building new product features, expanding platform capability, and tooling enhancements that will improve customers' experience or engineering velocity.
- Deliver Engineering objectives by executing the projects and providing visibility to resource allocation and prioritization. Develop frameworks for execution and adapt to the team’s needs & context.
- Develop a full understanding of our technical stack and interdependencies so that you are able to review designs to ensure they are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
- Track, prioritize and execute projects, enhancements, or bugs from the team backlog.
- Manage timely and succinct communications to leadership and across teams to ensure accountability and timeline management.
- Ensure documentation of project artifacts, including architecture, work steps, deployments, release notes, and monthly reporting.
- Ensure user-acceptance testing is performed and coordinate releases.
- After project completion, define support and maintenance procedures.

- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in a technical project management role.
- Proficiency with Jira or similar ticketing systems.
- Knowledge of Scrum practices (sprint planning, review, standups, project grooming).
- Experience in directly interacting with internal and external customers.
- Experience working with diverse groups in a highly technical environment.
- Knowledge of project management lifecycle.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.
- Experience with software development and testing, preferred.
- Knowledge of telecommunications/telephony, VoIP, call routing, IVR functionality, and call flows, preferred.
- Knowledge of Docker & Kubernetes or similar cloud technologies, preferred.
$76,100 - $95,000 a yearThe base salary range provided is determined by market data matched to the job description and the level of the position, based in our industry and the Chicagoland area. We often consider candidates who do not meet all the qualifications listed in the job description (i.e., more or less years of experience, etc.). Therefore, an offer for this position may differ from the base salary range provided depending on the qualifications/skills of the candidate. In this case, an updated pay scale would be provided.
