Remote work in the Philadelphia metropolitan area declined last year as more employees went into the office, according to new data from the
U.S. Census Bureau.
This is significant because downtown Philadelphia and other city centers rely on office buildings being occupied.
The census data shows that the percentage of people working from home in the Philly metro dropped to 18.6% in 2022, down from 23.6% the prior year.
Although lower than before, this is still higher than the 15% national average for remote work.
